I seeee meee!!

So Luke is taking after his mom and starting to check himself out in the mirror. It kind of startled him at first. It was way funny. I don't think he knew he was looking at his reflection.

Needless to say he got the hang of it and started making ooohhhh ahhh faces and started checkin himself out. It was crackin us up.

Play time!

My first friend came to visit the other day. His name is Aiden Carter Case. He's got the coolest hair ever. When mine grows in, he's going to show me how to style it. We had a great time hanging out together. We were chillin' like villains.

He's a big boy!

Lucas had his 2 week check up on Monday. The doctor was amazed at how much weight Lucas had gained in his 14 days of life. (I was not surprised considering I have felt like a walking udder the past 2 weeks!) Anyway, he now weighs 9 lbs 5 ounces, which means he gained about 1.5 ounces per day. Because Lucas has been such a hearty eater, the doctor suggested we introduce 1 bottle feeding per day, in order to give me a much needed break. He assured us Lucas would not get nipple confusion. Well, Sam got to take a crack at it the past 2 nights. The first night, Lucas gorged himself since the milk came out of the bottle so easily and it all came back up. Last night, Lucas was much more successful and I got a full night's sleep. SO NICE!!!

This picture shows why I call Lucas my little bean. He curls on my shoulder just like this--like a little kidney bean.

It's amazing how much he has changed in just these few days. He looks different, he cried real tears on 6/16, he makes eye contact with us and evens tracks our faces. The best change is he actually smiles now.

He's definitely Hawaiian!

Mahalo...we are back and wanted to talk about feet today. If you have ever known any Hawaiian folks then you would know their feet are very unique. Traditionally they are wider because we tend to walk barefoot or in sandals thus allowing our feet to widen slowly over time. If you are lucky you also have the function of being able to actually use your toes as almost like fingers to where you can actually grab things. Ask my mom or my grandpa...crazy!

Now if you know some of my friends who know of my feet...names have been created such as one specific one called, "Nogglies". Well, aside from a toe issue which is totally another story I do have that so called function we talked about...the crab grab thing. All that being said we now have a new additon to the family with the makings of some great feet.
Enjoy...

Lucas' first couple of days at home...

Well, we are probably going over board here and I am sure it will continue. This is specifically for those that are not close enough to enjoy his presence. We were supposed to be release by the hospital at around noon, but we were told that Luke had a minor case of Jaundice. Here is a pick of what he had to go through for a couple of days. We now had our first real experience of sleep deprivation with a newborn... Isn't he the coolest? I guess you can say that is like his first tanning experience. You know we have to get ready for his first trip back to the homeland. His middle name is Kealoha...hello!

The next day after no sleep and some time to recover we thought we would take some welcome home pics with family.

Waiting to go home

We are waiting to be released so I have a little while to make a post. Yesterday, after I got out of the shower, I found my 2 men sleeping so peacefully. I had to take a picture.

Visiting Hours for Lucas!!

We would love to have folks come by and see the baby...BUT TODAY IS NOT THE DAY. :)

Lori is way tired and very sore. She needs her rest. Starting Wednesday she should be able to see folks. Thank you for all your texts, emails and voicemails. Everyone has been so supportive. We look forward to seeing you guys soon.
Have a good one!!

Please Welcome Lucas Kealoha Wallis

HERE HAS ARRIVED...FINALLY!! What a day! Lori is flat exhausted. I think we all are, but little or should I say BIG Lucas has finally arrived. He is:

8 lbs. 15 oz. and 22 inches long (there is really nothing small about him...dude has already got lil biceps and pecs.)

Here is a sneak peak of him.

Baby Time!!

6/01/2009 8:00am
We just got to the hospital. Lori is in her gown, and we are waiting on the nurse. We tried most all the suggested techniques to get her to go into labor, but Lucas is a stubborn one. She will be induced this morning. We will keep you guys posted as the day goes on.

6/01/2009 11:00am

Doesn't she look so pretty. She is on her pitocin drip and awaiting the induction to begin.
This could take all day the nurse said. We shall see...

6/01/2009 4:15pm

The doctor came in just now and broke her water. She is now dilated to a 1. Very painful for her. It was hard to watch. The doc will be back in a few hours to see her progress now.
Thank you for all the calls and texts. We will keep you guys updated as things change.

6/01/2009 7:00pm

She went into labor after the doc broke her water. That lasted about an hour and it was...HAPPY TIME!! She is not slowly dozing off and sitting at a full 3 cm. Much happier and no more tears. Stay posted the finale' is yet to come.

6/02/2009 12:45am

Well she gave it her best for two hours but no cigar. They are prepping her now for a C-section.
They said it should take about an hour. I did get to see the head before having to move towards surgery. We were so close. I hate to see her in this much pain but she is doing great. We will keep you guys posted.
