Here we are...

Man, it has been a long long time since we have posted on this blog thing. Lucas has grown so much and our family has changed quite a bit since the last time we posted. I am now working in Florida and commute back home as much as I can during each month to see Lori and Luke. Lori is still, "being all she can be" as an EMSisd librarian teaching our future generation. She gives so much and they continue to keep tossing out major obstacles for her to overcome. Get'r done is all I have to say. I am very proud of her and wish I could do more. She is my rock and I love her deeply.  I know it has been hard since I took this job in Florida. During the week being a single mom is a much bigger challenge than any obstacle she has had to tackle at work. She should be a true inspiration to anyone trying to manager work, a child and the household.  I better get my act together soon right and get home!

Then there is Lucas...he has truly been a blessing in our lives. I know he keeps Lori on her toes every day but he makes me smile so much. Like any child can be a challenge and trying at times, being away makes me yearn for all the temper tantrums and "why daddy why" conversations that go along with the good stuff.
He is growing like a weed not just physically but mentally. That dude is smart as a whip! I cherish every moment I get with him.

Here are some pics of what I have available:

Lucas's 2nd Birthday-June 2, 2011

We celebrated Lucas's birthday with his classmates from daycare and cousins on Sam's side at a local kid's gym. It was so great to see all the kids jumping on the trampolines, sliding into the foam pit, and crawling through the tunnels....they really weren't interested in walking on the balance beams and other gymnastics stuff, go figure! Mom and Danny were able to join us, too, which was a nice. Lucas really loves playing with these two.

Sweet Moment

Well obviously, I have been lazy about posting to the blog. We've had plenty of activities to write about, I just haven't taken the time to do it. I wanted to record this memory, so here goes....
Sam has had a busy couple of weeks with the new position at FedEx and putting in the zip lines at the park. Needless to say, the time we have gotten to spend together as a family has been limited lately, but when we are all together, Lucas really lights up. He gets so excited when "Daddy Home." Sam came home for about 30 minutes to spend time with Lucas and me this evening and one of the sweetest things happened tonight. When Sam was just about to leave, Lucas shouted across the room, "I Love You. I Love You Daddy!" It was just the sweetest thing as Lucas hasn't ever prompted saying those 3 words. Sam and I were both fighting back the tears.

Back to Blogging

Life has taken hold and Lucas keeps me BUSY! I've neglected posting for over a year now, but now today I'm declaring I will post pictures of a year in review....so over the next couple weeks (hopefully) I will get all pictures and videos from the past year posted, starting with Mother's Day 2011.

Mother's Day 2011 at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center

This was a fantastic day trip from FW. We had a blast, but Lucas started getting nervous when the animals began putting their heads in the car. You don't realize how big they are until they are 6 inches from your face.

Spring Break 2011

The weather was beautiful and the activities were perfect. This spring break we visited the FW Zoo with Sam's mother. Lucas loves that place and gets so excited about seeing all the animals. It was fun having Sam and his mother get to enjoy Lucas' excitement too. We had a play date with Christopher, who is 4. Lucas got to play with some really cool toys. Lucas helped bake his first batch of cupcakes. He helped smash the strawberries and hold the mixer, but all he really wanted to do was stick the spatula in the batter and eat it. He brought cupcakes to "Nel-nel," (Chanel) his babysitter across the street, too. We played outside alot, as the weather so so beautiful. He played basketball, threw the ball, rode his batman big wheel and tricycle, played with his trucks and trains, too. And of course, we went on runs and played at the playground. I think the only thing we missed was flying a kite. We will have to get one of those soon before the winds stop.

My favorite part of the entire week was getting to hear him wake up and start reading and playing in his crib. I've tried catching him with the video camera but it seems I just haven't been able to do it. I wish I could share it with you as it is the cutest thing in the world!

Winter Storm 2011

As we all know, north Texas was hit with a huge ice storm on February 1. After the ice came down, we had snow and then more snow on Thursday. Temperatures were COLD, but we still had a good time. We played in the snow, took a few walks, did sticker art, made cookies for daddy, read books, watched plenty of DVDs with Buzz and Woody, woke daddy up with surprise kisses, made Lucas' valentines cards, and even went sledding. Saturday warmed up enough for us to visit Sundance Square to see all the Superbowl hoopla. We had a good time, but I think we will all be glad to be back to our normal routine. And Lucas will be even more happy to be able to ride his batman big wheel. It really is difficult to get a 20 month old to understand his big wheel really doesn't work on ice!

Catching Up with some Holiday pics!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful year. We have had an eventful one ourselves. It has been fun watching lil Lucas grow. He, I am sure like any baby, is a handful. With all the ups and downs, we enjoyed every minute. Here are a couple of pics from Halloween and a bit more from Christmas. We wish everyone wonderful blessings, and hope to see you very soon.
